– Choices Flooring Mildura 6 (Jackson Tung 3, Liam Wood, Ashley Morrison 1) d Regional Taxation Services 5 (Andrew Cannard, Paul Kealley 2)
Early in the match the Choices Flooring trio of Jackson Tung, Liam Wood and Ashley Morrison took a 3-1 lead before Regional Taxation Services struck back late to lead 5-4. This comeback came despite Jackson Tung winning three singles for the Choices team, he also combined to win the first doubles with Liam Wood over fill in Andrew Cannard and the dangerous Paul Kealley.
It was the second doubles which helped Regional Taxation Services to get back into the battle for the four points when RTS pair Anrew Cannard and Quentin Clark fought back from a deficit to win a thriller over Jackson Tung and Ashley Morrison 12-10 9-11 7-11 11-9 11-9, what a match.

With one rubber to play the scores were locked at five rubbers all when RTS number three Quentin Clark stepped up to the table against opposing number three Ashley Morrison, these two being promoted from pennant two in the recently concluded winter pennant. Could Clark be the hero again as he was in round one? He grabbed the first game narrowly before Morrison proved too consistent in the second and third, with a mix of attacking backhands and forehands Clark took the fourth to level at two rubbers all. The fifth was a tense watch for both sets of team-mates as this game went on and on. Clark had his chances late however it was the cool demeanour of Morrison who prevailed in a great battle 10-12 11-5 11-5 8-11 12-10.
In a nail biter it was Choices Flooring Mildura who took the match 6-5 despite Andrew Cannard and Paul Kealley winning two singles each for Regional Taxation Services. Choices Flooring Mildura are now two from two to be second on the ladder.
– Weightmans Packaging 7 (Jamie Kealley 3, Rohan Reimers 2) d Tankard Dental 4 (Reece Kurrle 2, Ed Hung, Edi Re 1)
With both Jamie Kealley and Rohan Reimers winning three and two singles respectively Weightmans Packaging won their second match in succession to head the ladder by percentage. Their 7-4 win over Tankard Dental came despite several four and five set matches which potentially could have gone either way.

Included in Jamie Kealley’s three singles victories was an excellent four set win over Reece Kurrle who was coming off three singles wins in round one. These two hit the ball very hard and slugged it out with many long rallies taking place. Kealley proved too steady winning 11-8 8-11 11-8 11-7. To cap off a big round Kealley combined with teammates Rohan Reimers and Marcus Cimino to win both doubles. The second doubles was crucial when Kealley and Cimino outlasted Reece Kurrle and Ed Hung 11-9 11-9 8-11 9-11 11-3.
For Tankard Dental Kurrle won two singles while fill in Eddie Read and Ed Hung won one each, however it was their inability to win a doubles which was an issue.
– Cookes Pools & Spas 7 (Arhuang (Wong) Lau, Russell Walder 2, Jason Gifkins 1) d Mallee Bearings 4 (Kate Carmichael 3, Lee Leeson 1)
After a loss in round one Cookes Pools & Spas bounced back this week to defeat Mallee Bearings 7-4 despite Kate Carmichael again winning three singes for the Bearings team. Included in her victories was a four set defeat of the classy Arhuang Lau in a match that included many long rallies and good defence from Carmichael as Lau attacks hard. The result in Carmichael’s favour was 11-6 5-11 11-6 12-10.

Despite this setback Lau had a good night winning his remaining two singles while also taking part in both doubles victories with teammates Russell Walder and Jason Gifkins. The second doubles with Gifkins was important as they trailed Carmichael and Lee Leeson by two games to love only to come back strongly to win 9-11 9-11 11-8 11-8 11-7.

Cookes Pools & Spas 6 Duy Truong (3), David Sergi (1), Deegan Kerslake (1) defeated Weightmans Packaging 5 Rasin Bhuiyan (2), Michael Tan (2), Steve Parker (0).
Fourth-placed Cookes took their first win for the season in round 2 against second-placed Weightmans Packaging. Despite the best efforts of Weightmans’ captain Rasin Bhuiyan and his teammate Michael Tan who both took out two singles wins, Cookes nabbed the victory a slim 6-5.

Cookes’s No. 2 Sergi took the first win of the night, dispatching Parker in four sets 11-4, 12-14, 11-9, 11-8. Truong then went up against former teammate Tan, with whom he won the 2025 winter season. He showed no mercy though, and after a solid brawl took the win 11-4, 9-11, 11-6, 11-7. No. 3 Kerslake then versed Bhuiyan but found no luck, losing in straight sets 1-11, 3-11, 10-12. Truong and Sergi then paired up to face Weightmans in the doubles, winning in four 6-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-5.
Next, Kerslake and Tan took to the table, with the latter gaining the upper hand 11-4, 11-7, 11-6 while Truong scratched off another by besting Parker also in straight sets 11-4, 11-2, 11-3. Bhuiyan then held the line against Sergi, defeating him in four sets 11-7, 7-11, 11-4, 11-6. The second doubles was the only five-setter of the night, with Weightmans winning the first set 11-9, Cookes regrouping and taking the next two 11-4, 11-9 but Weightmans stood firm and nabbed the last two 11-6, 11-8, tying up the score 4-4.
Truong then got his fifth rubber by defeating opposing captain Bhuiyan 11-8, 11-8, 16-14, but then Tan levelled the score again 5-5 with a win over Sergi in straight sets 11-5, 11-7, 11-7. The decider would be Parker versus Kerslake with the latter taking the win in straight sets 11-7, 11-5, 12-10.
Final score 6 rubbers to 5 and 21 games to 18.
Mallee Meats 6 Harry Gujral (2), Therese Fitzpatrick (3), Peter Fitzpatrick (0) defeated Pinnacle Packers 5 Josh Anold (2), James Jarvis (1), Ryan Hensgen (1).
Mallee Meats scored their second win in round 2 over Pinnacle Packers who put up a good fight but ultimately lost a very close 6-5. The standout player in this match was Meat’s No. 2 Therese Fitzpatrick who took out three singles wins.

Captain Gujral quickly dispatched Jarvis in the night’s opening match, taking the game in straight sets 11-0, 11-3, 11-6 while Therese Fitzpatrick took her first scalp of the night by downing Hensgen in four 11-13, 11-6, 11-6, 11-5. Meanwhile, father Peter could do nothing against Arnold, going down in three 3-11, 5-11, 5-11. In the first doubles match, Meats duo Gujral and Therese Fitzpatrick came up against some sturdy opposition in Packers who took the game in straight sets 11-5, 11-6, 11-6, levelling the score 2-2.
Therese Fitzpatrick then tipped the scales in her team’s favour when she went up against opposite No. 2 Jarvis. Jarvis took the first set 11-9, Fitzpatrick struck back taking the next two 11-8, 11-5, Jarvis held on and won the fourth 11-7 but floundered in the fifth losing 5-11. Arnold answered this loss with a tight victory over Gujral 14-12, 11-3, 9-11, 13-11, levelling the score again 3-3. Peter Fitzpatrick then threw everything he had at Hensgen but came back empty-handed, 10-12, 11-5, 10-12, 11-9, 9-11. The second doubles saw Gujral and Peter Fitzpatrick take on Arnold and Hensgen in another close five-setter. Packers struck first taking the first two sets 11-9, 11-5 but Meats found a way through and proceeded to win the next three sets in spectacular fashion 11-6, 11-4, 12-10.
Hard-working Therese was then up for yet another tough five-setter, this time against captain Arnold. She started strong winning the first set 11-4, Arnold then retaliated hard winning the second and third 11-7, 11-9 but he let it slip in the next two sets allowing Therese to move in for the kill, 11-9, 13-11. This win put Meats ahead at 5-4 but Packers weren’t done yet. Jarvis cleaned up Peter Fitzpatrick in straight sets 11-5, 11-5, 11-3 but teammate Hensgen couldn’t match Gujral in the evening’s final game, losing 3-11, 6-11, 4-11.
Final score 6 rubbers to 5 and 22 games to 21.

PENNANT THREE
Last round both matches were thrillers with 6-5 results however round two produced more one sided scorelines, three players scored three singles wins, both number one players Sam Campbell and Regional Taxation Services Karly Leach were in form winning three each and the star performer Sammy’s Slammers number two Koby Grace who also won three singles, to add to the two he won last round. These three players are first and equal second on the singles aggregate and Koby’s form is the reason Sammy’s Slammers are on top of the ladder.

– Sammy’s Slammers 9 (Sam Campbell. Koby Grace 3, Leanne Wilson 2) d Mallee Meats 2 (Sabrina Fitzpatrick 1)
With a big 9-2 victory by Sammy’s Slammers over Mallee Meats, the Slammers now occupy first position on top of the ladder albeit by percentage’ Mallee Meats will write this one off as one to forget and will bounce back next round.
For the Slammers trio everything seemed to go right, and it was from the first game when Leanne Wilson scored her first singles win in Pennant Three, a four-set win over the improving Brenden Johnson. The scoreline of 11-9 13-15 12-10 11-6 indicated how close it was, Leanne went on to win a further singles in the last match of the night outlasting her son Hayden in another close four set tussle 8-11 11-9 11-9 11-9 what a match. Leanne capped off a great round by teaming up with Sam Campbell in the seconds doubles to defeat Brenden Johnson and Hayden Wilson in four sets.
As mentioned earlier both Leanne’s teammates Sam Campbell and Koby Grace were on fire winning three singles each which was impressive. This was an outstanding effort by Koby and his straight sets win over opposing number one Sabrina Fitzpatrick was one of his best wins since he started playing competition table tennis.

– Exposed Signage/Apparel 7 (Steve Pongrac, Curtis Crabtree 2, Nick Kiapekos 1) d Regional Taxation Services 4 (Karly Leach 3, Cooper Kalms 1)

With Nick Kiapekos lining up for the first time this season with teammates Steve Pongrac and Curti Crabtree the Exposed Signage/Apparel team were at full strength in their match against Regional Taxation Services who were without the unwell Leo Parker.
Leo was replaced by fill in Raj Gujral who also played as a fill-in in round one and showed good form. This was expected to be a close match, and it worked out that way.
The doubles proved to be the key with Exposed Signage/Apparel winning both in five sets, the first was an amazing marathon with Exposed pair of Steve and Nick up against Karly and Raj.
Karly and Raj grabbed the first game before the experienced pair of Steve and Nick bounced back to win the next two games. Karly and Raj then levelled the match at two rubbers all and then teammates witnessed the fifth that just went on and on. Both teams had their chance however it went the way of Steve and Nick, an amazing final score line of 7-11 11-6 11-8 7-11 18-16, wow what a final game!!
When Steve accounted for Raj in four close sets in the next singles Exposed Signage/Apparel had taken a 4-1 lead and were looking comfortable, Regional Taxation Services had other ideas and then won three of the next four matches to reduce the deficit to 4-5, their only blemish in this comeback was again the doubles, this time Karly and Cooper Kalms combined to play Steve
and Curtis and again it was the Exposed Signage/Apparel pair who came out on top, the scoreline 11-7 1-11 11-6 3-11 11-4 an interesting scoreline.
With his team leading 5-4 Exposed Signage/Apparel number two Nick Kiapekos proved too steady for Raj Gujral to win in three sets while teammate Curtis Crabtree then defeated Cooper Kalms in an entertaining four setter to enable their team to take the match 7-4.
In all there were three five set matches, and all were won by Exposed Signage/Apparel. Victory came despite opposing skipper Karly Leach winning three singles all in straight sets.
For the victors Steve Pongrac enjoyed a good night winning two singles while also taking part in both doubles’ victories, teammate Curtis Crabtree was impressive also winning two singles and combining with Steve to win the second doubles.

PENNANT FOUR
Round 1 results were very close, with both encounters finishing 6 / 5, but Round 2 was a bit more one sided. All four teams gave their utmost in their attempts to bring home a win for their respective Teams.
| Win | Loss | Pts | Rubbers | Games | % | % | |||

Pennant four got through the first week without needing a fill-in, but unfortunately Connor was unable to play this week, so the question was asked of young Jakob Grzan, if he would play in his actual team, but also take on the part of number three in Mallee Meats. He not only willingly took on the task, he won two matches for his team, Dunkley Scales and did the same for Mallee Meats. A fantastic effort Jakob.
– Dunkley Scales 8 (Glenn Leeson 3, Jenny Leach, Jakob Grzan 2) d Tankard Dental 3 (Maria Starikov 2)
Tankard – Maria Starikov, Ildi Healy and Andrew Jeffries. Dunkley – Glenn Leeson, Jen Leach and Jakob Grzan.
The first bracket of Singles started off with Maria putting up her defensive wall against Jen. The first set saw Jen finding a way to break through, but from then on Maria took hold, to give Tankard the Rubber (8/11, 11/5, 11/7, 11/8).
The battle between Andrew and Jakob fell in Jakob’s favour, after he laid down some terrific forehand shots and put the pressure on Andrew in each of the three sets (11/5, 11/7, 11/5).
Ildi fought hard in her match against Glenn, but couldn’t quite figure out his cut shots. This put Dunkley one ahead, with the Doubles coming up (11/7, 11/6, 11/7).
The pairing of Maria and Ildi now had to face Glenn and Jen in the Doubles and it turned out to be a ripper match, going to five, with three sets going past eleven and rallies abounding. The final outcome had Tankard sneaking the win, to bring the score back to even (11/5, 10/12, 13/11, 8/11, 15/13).
In a four set match, Andrew struggled against Jen. He took on the challenge and won the second set, but was unable to continue his run (3/11, 11/8, 4/11, 6/11).
Glenn had an easy run in the first set, but was pushed in the third set, against Maria, when the two number ones played off. The first two sets were Maria’s down fall, with Glenn’s skills too much for her to deal with (11/2, 11/8, 12/10).

As previously mentioned Jakob had a super night and Ildi’s experience did force the match out to four sets, but Jakob had the magic touch this round, which enabled him to take his second win (9/11, 14/12, 11/8, 11/9).
The Rubbers now sat at five to two, with Dunkley only needing one more win to mark up the win for round two.
When Maria and Andrew faced the Dunley pair, in the Doubles, Glenn manufactured some fantastic shots and with Jakob’s magic presence, the pair seemed to get into the groove, right from the first hit, which brought the match to an early end, falling to Dunkley in three to give them the Rubber they needed, to win the night (11/1, 11/7, 11/3).
With Andrews confidence a little low and Glenn’s game on fire, Tankard were unable to add to their score, with Glenn notching up his third win, all in three sets (11/2, 11/3, 11/8).
Over the past couple of matches, Jen has found it difficult to come close to Ildi’s game, but this week, something must have clicked, as Jen collected the win, after three well fought sets by both players 14/12, 11/8, 13/11).
The last match, gave Tankard their third Rubber, with Maria proving a bit much for Jakob, after his lengthy night playing for two Teams (11/5, 11/4, 11/8).
WINNER : Dunkley Scales 8 to Tankard Dental 3
GAMES : 27 to 11.
– Mallee Meats 7 (Jakob Grzan, Yen Hwak 2, Nathan Beard 1) d Weightmans Packaging 4 (Eddy Parker 3, Tom Gilmour 1)
Weightman’s – Tom Gilmour, Eddy Parker and Liam Milton. Mallee – Yen Hwak, Nathan Beard and Connor Burnett (Fill in – Jakob Grzan).
Weightman’s made a good start coming away with wins in the first two matches, after Eddy and Yen lite up the room, with a five set screamer. Every set was tight, with Yen’s speedy returns and Eddy’s determination it was a fantastic opening match. Mallee’s number one pushed it out to 12 in the last set, but it was Eddy who made his mark in this one (11/9, 8/11, 11/9, 8/11, 12/10).
Nathan had a good tussle against Tom, with the three sets win going to Tom (11/6, 11/9, 12/10).
Liam’s game is coming together with each match he plays, but he was facing the magic man on this occasion. Jakob once again put in a great game, which gave Mallee it’s first Rubber (11/7, 11/7, 11/5).
Tom and Eddy had a win each up their sleeve and were now pairing up in the Doubles, which may have looked like a third Rubber to Weightman’s, but to their credit Yen and Nathan secured the win to bring both teams back to square (13/11, 11/7, 12/10).
Tom took out the first couple of sets in his skirmish with Yen, which then meant Mallee’s Captain had to turn up the heat and that he did, marking up their third win running (11/9, 11/9, 8/11, 5/11, 9/11).
Jakob was then to take on Eddy, which was a big challenge, as Eddy’s skill level had increased ten fold, since the Winter season. It proved to be too much for young Jakob, with Weightman’s putting a halt to Mallee’s run (11/4, 11/7, 13/11).

Liam gave Nathan a good run for his money, in a fight back in the third, but Nathan pulled out a winner at 15 / 13 to take the Rubber (11/7, 11/3, 15/13).
Weightman’s now needed a win in the Doubles, to stay in touch, but as things spanned out, Tom and Liam never really got control of the match, with Yen and Jakob pairing together well, to put Mallee two Rubbers ahead (11/6, 11/3, 11/8).
It was now up to Tom, Weightman’s Captain to put the pedal to the metal and save his team. It was a rally filled match, which went all the way and saw the magic wand come out again, to see Jakob take his second win in this second team. This was the Rubber Mallee needed to capture the nights win (11/9, 5/11, 11/8, 7/11, 11/7).
Liam gave it his best shot, but couldn’t match Yen’s talent in a fast three setter (11/5, 11/8, 11/3).
The final match for round two was between Eddy and Nathan, with both throwing in some amazing shots. Eddy held his nerve over the four sets and produced his third singles win for night, in s strong performance (11/7, 10/12, 11/5, 11/7).
