A Look at the Summer battle in pics !

p1

p1

The body is saying rest … But the warrior within will not lie down. Wayne Carmichael is the first player to win two Super 8 titles … Mind you back to back !

p1

Yes it was against you guessed it, brother Gavin Carmichael. And yes Gav did have his chances.

p1

Earlier Gav played a clinical game against ‘el Presidente’ Mark Dorman in the preliminary final.

p1

p1

The wizard returns … ‘Double Centurion’ Arnold Jago made an impressive run to the Gf !

p1

But not without a scare … Bernadette Fitzpatrick almost stole the chocolates in the Semi, going down 12-10 in the 5th.

p1

A cool change … Ellie Midgley welcomed the sub 30 temp after the 46+ swelter the previous week.

p1

Focus … George Papanicolaou shows here the determination that earned him the P3 title.

p1

p1

The standover man … Matt Johns was getting this ball over one way or another. The look in his eye was enough for the ball to obey his every command.

p1

Sam the Great … Sam Hensgen had one goal on the night, to take out his brother Ryan and did so in the first cut throat elimination final. The smurk says it all !

p1

p1

Following in his fathers footsteps young Josh Carmichael debuted in P4 and senior competition this year. Josh managed to win the P4 aggregate and the Super8’s title as well.

p1

The look is more of a Monday night fight night in a boxing arena. Andrew Cannard bruised his way to the Semi’s before being floored by a Gavin Carmichael right cross in three straight sets.

p1

And speaking of wild shots, Mark Ljubic looked intimidating early until once again meeting his demise against eventual champion Wayne Carmichael.

p1

A watchful eye from Ash Morrison kept him in good stead as he patiently weaved his way through to the Grand Final. Ironically 3 of his 4 matches went to 5 sets but he managed to resist his hand grinade smash to wear his opponents down.

p1

And the look says it all … Sleep well. Arnold looks as though he could go another 5 sets.

p1

Another young gun on the rise … Nick Dorman has raced up the junior ranks to be knocking on Pennant 1’s door. Look out Dad !

p1

Recovering from shoulder surgery, Denise Henderson made a return this summer to play and showed many in P2 why she was such a difficult proposition in her prime.

p1

It took the Wizard to take her out in the preliminary final in 5 tough sets … And what a match !

p1

Brothers in arms … The Grand Finalists in P1, the Carmichael boys with umpire Kevin Johns in the middle.

p1

The P2 Grandfinalists Ash Morrison and Arnold Jago played out a very entertaining and tense 5 set decider.

p1

In P3 Lachlan Kelly (right) finished second again after coming runners up in the Winter Super 8’s final. Both himself and George Papanicolaou have bright futures in the Stta and look to be the future P1 stars.

p1

Cole Keegan didnt get the chocolates this time after winning the P4 Winter Super 8’s title. Both himself and Josh Carmichael appear set to get big promotions in the 2013 Winter season.

p1

We end the Super 8’s wrap with Peter Edwards. A quiet acheiver but another of the rising crop of stars of the future.

See you all next Super 8 season !
