Dunkley Scales 7 Rasin Bhuiyan (3), Chris Chen (2), Sam Campbell (1) defeated Weightmans Packaging 4 Kevin Johns (2), Steve Parker (0), Andrew Kremor (1).

Dunkley Scales took a clean 7-4 win over Weightmans Packaging in round 6.
First up, Cen defeated Kremor in straight sets, 11-9, 11-4, 11-6, whilst Pennant 2 debutant Sam Campbell went toe to toe with veteran Kevin Johns, with the latter taking the win after a tough five set struggle, 5-11, 11-2, 11-6, 8-11, 11-3. Bhuiyan took down Parker in four sets, 9-11, 11-4, 11-6, 11-3 and then teamed up with Cen to defeat Weightmans Packaging in the first doubles match, winning 7-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7.
Johns then took down Cen in four sets, 12-10, 11-7, 11-13, 12-10, whilst teammate Kremor went down to Bhuiyan in three, 11-2, 11-6, 11-3. Campbell then engaged Parker in another five setter, this time taking the win, 12-10, 10-12, 8-11, 11-8, 11-3, getting her team their fifth rubber at 5-2. The two sides then went into the second doubles wherein Weightmans got the upper hand and won, 9-11, 11-2, 5-11, 11-5, 11-9.
The ever-reliable Bhuiyan then took out his side’s sixth rubber by defeating Johns in straight sets, 11-9, 12-10, 11-6. To wrap things up, Cen then defeated Parker, 11-8, 14-12, 7-11, 11-6, and Kremor obtained his one singles win for the night by besting Campbell in four sets, 12-10, 12-10, 11-9.
Final score 7 rubbers to 4 and 26 games to 18.
Tankard Dental 8 Josh Arnold (3), Kym Sykes (2), Juan Castro (2) defeated Mallee Meats 3 Jackson Murphy (1), Chris Cen (1).

The entire Mallee Meats team was a no-show in round 6, prompting the need for Jackson Murphy and Chris Cen to play as substitutes. They were, however, without a No. 3 player, thus forfeiting four rubbers to their opponents, Tankard Dental. All of this would contribute to a very disappointing night for Meats, and they would ultimately lose 8-3.
Castro took out the first rubber against Cen, winning in five, 12-10, 8-11, 9-11, 11-4, 12-10. Sykes then battled against Murphy in another five-setter and after a long struggle took out the win, 11-13, 11-5, 16-14, 8-11, 11-6, winning the night VERY early for Tankard Dental thanks to the four forfeited rubbers. Meats then got their first rubber on the scoreboard by winning the first doubles, 11-4, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7.
Captain Arnold gave no quarter to Cen in their match, winning 11-7, 11-5, 11-8, while Murphy went up against Castro and took out his only singles win for the night, 10-12, 11-5, 11-6, 11-8. The two No. 1’s then faced off, with Arnold just getting the upper hand in the fifth set, 6-11, 11-3, 11-7, 9-11, 12-10. Then in the last, Cen defeated Sykes soundly to obtain an eighth rubber, 11-2, 11-6, 11-7.
Final score 8 rubbers to 3 and 26 games to 15.
Pinnacle Packers 8 Therese Fitzpatrick (2), James Jarvis (2), Koby Grace (2) defeated Sammy’s Slammers 3 Michael Tan (3), Ryan Hensgen (0), Yen Hwak (0).

Despite the addition of Michael Tan as a substitute for skipper Daniel Jansen, Sammy’s Slammers found little luck in their match against a confident Pinnacle Packers, with the latter winning the night 8-3.
The first three rubbers featured hotly contested five-setters with Grace taking the first against Hensgen, 8-11, 8-11, 11-4, 12-10, 14-12. Young captain Therese Fitzpatrick then took out Hwak, 6-11, 11-8, 11-3, 6-11, 11-3, whilst teammate Jarvis lost to the formidable Tan, 11-13, 11-4, 7-11, 11-7, 7-11. Packers then got themselves halfway home by obtaining their third rubber in the first doubles match, winning in four sets, 4-11, 11-1, 11-6, 11-8.
Fitzpatrick marked down another win, this time over Hensgen, 11-8, 11-8, 11-8. Tan then showed no mercy to Grace, defeating him soundly, 11-2, 11-7, 11-9, as Jarvis obtained the fifth rubber for his team, besting Hwak, 11-9, 11-8, 7-11, 11-7. Teammates Fitzpatrick and Grace then backed this up with another hard fought five-setter win in the second doubles, 11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 4-11, 12-10; getting themselves over the line at 6-2.
Tan finished up the night with three singles wins, the last against Fitzpatrick, 11-3, 11-3, 11-9. Jarvis then defeated Hensgen in straight sets, 11-6, 11-7, 11-4, and in the final rubber Grace took out his second singles win, besting Hwak, 12-10, 11-7, 11-9.
Final score 8 rubbers to 3 and 26 games to 17.

PENNANT THREE:
Last week was one out of the box, with NO fill-in’s required for any Pennant, but of course it was going to be a long shot to think that would last, with Pennant 3 alone needing two, but that’s life I suppose, not everything revolves around Sport.
Two of the clashes went right down to the last game, with one of the encounters incorporating four five set matches.

– Mallee Bearings 6 (Darren Bottams, Jakob Grzan 2, Costa Skiadis 1) d Mallee Meats 5 (Anthony Fox 3, Tom Gilmour 1)

Bearings – Hayden Wilson (Fill-in : Darren Bottams), Jakob Grzan and Costa Skiadas. Meats – Anthony Fox, Tom Gilmour and Jake Hines.
This confrontation was between 3rd and 5th placed teams on the Ladder, with very little between the final score line.
After the first Doubles Meats had a three to one lead, but there were some incredible games amongst those four matches. Costa is loving his return to the game and giving his opposition some trouble, with his sneaky serves. Tom was challenged at times, with Costa bursting into action taking the second and third sets, but a fierce fight back from Tom, including a 15/13 win, saw him grab the last two games and the Rubber.
Darren unfortunately didn’t put his hand up to enter into a Team for Summer, but is now keen to fill-in and I’m sure he will be welcomed into any team as a back up player. On this occasion it was Jake who had to face him and Meats number three focused hard, but was unable to stay with Darrens game, with the three set win landing Bearing an leveler.
Young Jakob has continued on his way to success, improving with every week. It was a ripper match when he stood up to contest the five setter against the Captain of the Meats Team. Back-and-forth went the games and without taking anything away from Jakob, Anthony pocketing a full on wrestle in the third game (13/11), could have been the telling point for the eventual second Rubber to Anthony’s Team.
The Doubles led to another win for Meats, with four sets being fought out between the Bearings pair, of Jakob and Darren, up against Anthony and Tom. There were many lengthy rallies and some amazing slams, some coming off, but some missing the target, but all and all a great match.
It was a whole different picture for Darren and Tom in the Winter Season, when they were Team mates. There was no mercy shown by either player, as they went about hunting down a win for their respective Teams. The first game was pretty close, with Darren only winning by a couple of shots, but he slowly wore Tom down to capture the Rubber in three.
With Bearings needing to continue the run, could Costa be the one to bring the score line back to even ground. Well, the answer was very quickly, no. Anthony takes no prisoners and is relentless in this attacking, which halted any chance of a win for Costa.
Jake stood tall in his skirmish with Jakob taking seven points off him in the first two games, before Jakob called on his slick serving to end the game in three.
The Bearings team were just hanging in, with the Rubbers now at 4 to 3, in Meats favor. A brave fight by Jakob and Costa put them back on the map, with a fine performance in their contest against Anthony and Jake, in a four set Match.
Darren did his best to push through Anthony’s barrier, with the first three games of the five setter giving Darren the advantage, but if you take your eye off the target, pretty quickly the opposition will sneak in and that’s just what happened, when Anthony put his foot down. This was Anthony’s 3rd Singles win for the night.
Bearings would now need to win the last two Rubbers to stay in the game and the pressure was about to be turned up a notch. Tom pulled in the first game, with Jakob returning the favor in the next. The score was 12/10 in both the third and fourth games, one to each. A very focused and confident Jakob pulled out all his tricks and in a tight finish also pulled in the Rubber, to put both teams on 5 points.
It was not inevitable, but with Costa’s past experience, Jake would have to play an incredible game to bring his team to the top. Costa made all the moves needed to land the victory in the lap of Mallee Bearings.
WINNER : Mallee Bearings 6 to Mallee Meats 5.
GAMES : Bearings – 25 to Meats – 17.
– Exposed Signage/Apparel 6 (Nick Kiapekos, Leanne Wilson 2, Nathan Beard 1) d Regional Taxation Services 5 (Peter Fitzpatrick 3, Maria Starikov 1)

Exposed – Nick Kiapekos, Leanne Wilson and Nathan Beard. Regional – Peter Fitzpatrick, Maria Starikov and Conner Burnett.
These two Teams were also ready for a close nights play. It was a fairly even bout in the first four matches and in fact there wouldn’t be a single five set match through the night.
Maria got the better of Nathan in the opening round, with the always expected lengthy rallies, with both having defensive games. Nathan did take the first (13/11), but it would be Maria who would bring home the first Rubber.
Nick showed his talent and past experience when he only allowed Connor 2 points in their first game. There was a good fight back from Regionals number three in the second, but Nick always had control of the Match.
Leanne is enjoying her comeback, after a season off with Elbow problems and she did her best to get on top of Peter, but he had her covered and completed the match in three.
Leanne was ready to make amends for her loss and played a big part in the Doubles win, with her Captain, Nick, when they came up against Peter and Maria. The three sets were action pack and leveled up the Rubbers.
Maria stood her ground in the first game when she faced Nick, but it didn’t take long for the Exposed Captain to bring the match to an end in three, breaking through Maria’s wall of defence.
Regionals Captain did like wise when he added a Rubber against Nathan. Peter had a job working out Nathan’s game in the first, but when the number three’s game got a little loose in the second game Peter found the opening and closed it out in three.
Leanne caught Conner sleeping in the first game and had an easy first game. But Conner woke up in the second and put in a great performance. Then Leanne switched her tactics and claimed the following two games and the Rubber.
Exposed now held a one Rubber lead, heading into the last Doubles. It was Nick and Nathan, to play Peter and Conner, which ended up being a little one sided, with Reginal exposing Exposed and taking the Rubber to level things once again.
Peter was the stand out player between these two Teams, reeling in his final win, marking up three Singles for him. His opponent, Nick made a move in the third game, to sneak a win, but it wasn’t enough to halt Peter, who put Regional back in front.
Maria is never an easy beat, as you can count on many tough rallies, with the first game going out to 12. But Leanne held her nerve and made sure her Team weren’t loosing on her watch.
This would be the fifth time this encounter had seen the Rubbers brought back to level and the pressure shifted, so with both on 5, the weight was very heavily on the shoulders of the two number three player.
Would it be Nathan or Conner, who would save the day for their team. The was a thrilling game, with four sets of tension. The first game fell to Nathan, along with a (12/10) win in the second, before Conner fought back to take the third. But it would be Exposed who would leave Victors, after Nathan came away with the win.
WINNER : Exposed Signage / Apparel 6 to Regional Taxation Services 5.
GAMES : Exposed 20 to Regional 17.
– Dunkley Scales 8 (Karly Leach 3, Rodney Galvin, Jeff Forsyth 2) d Cookes Pools & Spas 3 (Glenn Leeson, Joel Bottams 1)

Cookes : Sabrina Fitzpatrick (Fill-in, Huss Ismail), Glenn Leeson and Joel Bottams. Dunkley : Karly Leach, Rodney Galvin and Jeff Forsyth.
Number one and two on the Ladder were next to take up the challenge, both sitting on 4 wins and one loss, this was bound to be full on.
Joel and Rod took to the stage in the first clash, which was a battle of the experience up against a first timer. Rod threw down some very great serves in the opening game, which Joel couldn’t get his head around, before the number three got into the groove and pulled out a few tricks of his own, to lay claim to the second and third sets. The last two sets weren’t easy, but eventually fell to Rod, giving Dunkley the Rubber.
With the loss of Cookes Captain, it would be up to Huss to try and fill her shoes. He has been a good player previously and was able to push Jeff to 12 in the first game, but it would be Dunkley’s number three who would take the match in three sets.
Glenn now had to try and right the ship for Cookes, as he had found a new spark in his forehand. He facing Karly, who can be quite awkward to break through at times. Glenn tried everything he had in his bag, but couldn’t find an opening to break through, allowing Dunkley’s Captain to pencil in their third Rubber.
Maybe Cookes would fire up in the Doubles, with Huss and Glenn on one side of the Table, with their fingers crossed, ready to take on Karly and Rod. It was a five setter, with neither team having a firm hold on any game. To the disappointment of Cookes, it was another win to Dunkley.
Huss gave Rod a few scares in their match, but it was never really enough to sneak a game. With things now not looking great for Cookes, with Dunkley scooping up their fifth Rubber.
Their may have been a heavy weight on the shoulders of Joel, when he took on the job of stopping the roll of the opposition and starting the run for his team. Joel produced some terrific shots and forced Karly out to 12 in the third game, but the hurdle was too high and Dunkley’s number one made the winning move and handed her Team the Victory.
The remaining five matches did see Cookes gather some wins, which will give them confidence for their next encounter.
In a five set topsy turvy match, it was Jeff who dragged in the last game to add to Dunkley’s score. Both players showed some flare in their efforts to get the advantage.
There were smiles all round after the last Doubles, where Huss and Joel put on their focus caps against Karly and Jeff, with Cookes using a big black marker to enter their first Rubber, in a four setter.
Huss didn’t have the game to cause Karly any trouble, with this being her third Singles win for the evening.
Glenn was keen to grab a win and flicked the switch in his match against Rod. It was an electrifying watch from start to finish, with the first and last games of the five sets both going to 13/11 and both in Glenn’s favor, giving Glenn his first win and Cookes another Rubber.
Joel was determined to join in this sudden accumulation of wins and showed that he does have a strong game, bringing the match to an end in three sets, with the return of his flicky backhand.
