Oceania Championships‏ – March 2014

p1

Hi Sony,

Just letting you know how Dillon went at the Oceania Cup &
Championships in Bendigo recently. He had a great week, with
lots of matches and experience. He was a member of the winning
Open Men’s team & the winning U/21 men’s team. He also won
the U/21 mixed doubles with Vi Bui, was runner-up in the U/21
doubles with Yang Shen, and took bronze in the Men’s doubles
with Yang, and bronze in U/21 singles. He also had a 13/11 in
the 5th win over Yoshua Shing, who has won the Pacific Cup
the last 3 years, and was also an olympian at the 2012 London
Olympics.p1

During the event the Australian team for a major junior event
in the Cook Islands was announced, and Dillon was selected in
the U/18 team. This trip takes in several events over 10 days,
including the Oceania Youth Olympic Qualification event, for
which Dillon is the reserve, an ITTF Training Camp, which
will be run by a top international coach, and an ITTF Junior
Circuit event, with competitors from Europe as well as the
Oceania region. This all takes place from 21st May.

As you can see, Dillon is very busy with his table tennis,
and has lots to look forward to. He has also recently joined
Mark Smythe's coaching team, which contains several ex
olympians, so that will be great experience as well.p1

He is also looking forward to playing in the Sunraysia team
at the upcoming Country Week event in Melbourne.

Regards, Julie.

Update: 22/5/2014

Hi Sony,

Just wanted to let you know that
the selections have been made for
the state teams for the National
Senior and U/21 Championships in
Perth next month. Dillon has had
great success this year in senior
ranks as well as junior, and was
thrilled to be selected in the
Victorian Senior team. He is
third in the team, behind two
Australian Commonwealth Games
team members (for Edinburgh this
year), David Powell and Heming Hu,
and this is a big step in his
career.

Regards, Julie.
