p1

Going into the Grand Final having won 10 straight would make you think that 6 team meetings a night were not essential. But ‘Richie’ had other ideas!

p1

Team Meeting. Ali ‘Retro’ Taheri setting the game plan. For an upset everything had to go right!

p1

Young Matty Ljubic has had a brilliant entry to Pennant 1. This is typical of the type of offensive attack that has shaped his season and yes Ali is watching his every move.

p1

You guessed it, another conference. Gavin ‘Richie’ Carmichael stressing the importance of following the team plan. Sony’s response: Yes Richie I’ve been hearing it all Summer !

p1

In your face. Gavin keeping the pressure on. He and Nicholas had just won the doubles against Jackson & Ali and faced Jackson next in an important singles. I wonder what the conversation went like … Which foot hurts?

p1

The one that got away. Nicholas reflecting on his missed opportunity against Ali Taheri. Leading 2-0 and 9-6 in the third and with a juicy forehand smash on offer the moment slipped. Sony taking Gavin’s role offering Nicholas this bit of advice: The fact that you were in that position is a great achievement. Now lets focus on winning this baby or Richie will sort us both out !

p1

Many things have been said about Gavin’s ability to find a net or an edge when needed during the course of his career. I let you be the judge.

p1

Are you listening to me Matt? Ali trying to get through to Matt before the doubles.

p1

The marvels of modern technology. Hurricane Robinson ‘The spiritual leader of this team’ and Jackson Tung sending updates all over the place. Sadly the game sometimes is a bi-product. Hurricane’s coolness factor with his specs on and sunglasses overhead is something else.

p1

Not this time. Sony focused to end this early. The second doubles was crucial to the result. Gavins reflex saves & returns were a highlight of this match.

p1

The Moment. Gavin taking out the sixth rubber to seal the win.

p1

The satisfaction. Gavins last Pennant win was in 2002, Nicholas debuted into Pennant 1 for his first win & Sony had played in 4 successive Gf losses before winning the big one.

p1

Nikki suggested maybe staying home would give Sony more focus during the night. Karly & Nikki enjoying a moment after she decided to attend.

p1

Pinnacle Packers of Summer 2013: Sony Sefer, Gavin Carmichael & Nicholas Dorman.

p1

The Dorman Dynasty: John, Nicholas & Mark.

p1

The support crew. Leon ‘Money Man’ Brown had the entourage supporting. His leadership would be crucial in the P2 decider.

p1

A missed moment. Peter Fitzpatrick reflects on what was needed to push this final deeper.

p1

Low key affair. Money Man Brown cooly exiting after a straight sets win over Geoff Peters.

p1

The important doubles. Destiny seemed to be on their side as Tony ‘Jamiroquai’ Malycha and Leon ‘Money Man’ Brown were cutting through this final in no time. They were Pennant 2 winners and also fashion team of the year.

p1

Its all in the attitude. Tony Malycha cool as a cucumber wrapping up the 5th set in devastating style. He survived 13-11 in the 5th and the match tied at 5 all the week before in the Semi to help Spanline get to the Gf.

p1

Corners of the Earth. There a cool breeze coming through the house!

p1

Spanline the Summer Champions of Pennant 2: Tony Malycha, Leon Brown & Cole Keegan.

p1

The Yakuza … Josh Carmichael looking like he is needed for some enforcement work. What did you say about my Mum?.

p1

Safety in numbers. Rachael Fitzpatrick showing steely resolve with support in the background. Four of the 7 Fitzy’s were involved in GF duties on the night.

p1

Cometh the hour. Matt Avers delivered in spades on the night. Drawn to play Mukhwinder in the last game of the night at 5 all, he played the game of his life to win in 3 in a big upset.

p1

In a shock move Leonie Dunkley of Dunkley Scales changed the traditional order of the play list of her team. Perhaps setting Mukhwinder to play two of the last 3 singles games may have been too greater a task. The question remains.

p1

And the Winner is? Mukhwinder and crew getting a little excited after the announcement that Mukhwinder had won the P3 Aggregate championship.

p1

Family Support. With 3 Avers members playing in Grand Finals it was only a matter of when for Kim’s Mum & Dad. Yes Robbo is on that phone again.

p1

The pressure within. Kim & Chelsey were paired in the same team & Matt in P3. Seen here taking a moment before combat.

p1

Looking for a sign. Therese Fitzpatrick in her moment. Graeme O’Neil expects big things from this pocket dynamite over the coming years.

p1

In the mould of the maker. For those who have seen Graeme O’Neil play it would be no surprise to say that Angela Prior has Graeme’s very playing style. You guessed it, Angela is another product of Monday night coaching under the watchfull eye of Slugger O’Neil.

p1

The pressure within. John Fitzpatrick in the zone with Mum and Therese willing him on.

p1

Ball on a string. Therese Fitzpatrick showed great intensity during the night. We had to show you some of these moments of this little warrior.

p1

The P4 Grand Final had an edge about it all night. John Fitzpatrick keeping his composure after a tight game in the decider.

p1

Tough day at the office. The Fitzy’s in post mortem. The irony here is that Rachael did win the P3 Gf.

p1

The P4 Summer Pennant champions, Sunny Daily – Kim Avers, Chelsey Avers & Angela Prior.

p1

See you all next season!
