– Regional Taxation Services 7 (Matt Ljubic 3, Jamie Kealley 2, Thanh Nguyen 1) d Mallee Bearings 4 (Arhuang (Wong) Lau 2, Mark Dorman 1)

RTS skipper Matt Ljubic was the man of the match winning three singles including straight sets win over Arhuang Lau who returned this round after missing last round for health rounds. Lau played well but was still hampered however Ljubic is really hitting his straps now.
After Lau and teammate Mark Dorman won the first doubles in four sets over Ljubic and Thanh Nguyen followed by Lau defeating Nguyen in straight sets Mallee Bearings took a 3-2 lead however from this point RTS grabbed the initiative winning the next four games to grab the four points going to a lead of 6-3. Included in these wins was an excellent four set win by RTS Jamie Kealley over the experienced Mark Dorman 9-11 11-6 12-10 11-9, a top-class struggle and a great win by the talented youngster. After RT S pair Ljubic and Kealley won the second doubles Ljubic disposed of Lau and the battle for the four points was over.
In an even team display Matt Ljubic, Jamie Kealley and Thahn Nguyen won three, two and one singles to go to flag favouritism, this being their fifth win in as many rounds.
– Weightmans Packaging 7 (Shannon Bowen, Reece Kurrle 3) d Cookes Pools & Spas 4 (Jackson Tung, Paul Kealley, Russell Walder 1)

Third placed Weightmans Packaging, with both Shannon Bowen and Reece Kurrle in great form winning three singles each, moved to within one win of second place by methodically defeating fourth placed Cookes Pools & Spas 7-4.
Cookes started well when number two Paul Kealley defeated Lee Leeson in the first match however Weightmans stamped their authority on the match when they won the next four rubbers, this included two singles wins to Bowen and one to Kurrle when he defeated opposing number one Jackson Tung in an entertaining four setter with some excellent power play, the final score 18-16 8-11 11-3 13-11.
Bowen and Kurrle then accounted for Tung and Kealley in straight sets to take a strong hold on the match. Cookes skipper Tung slowed the decline by defeating Lee Leeson in a three set singles and then combined with teammate Russell Walder to defeat Bowen and Leeson however this was only delaying the inevitable with Bowen and Kurrle winning their third singles each in the following two matches.
Bowen and Kurrle are in excellent form and with this win have moved to third on the ladder and cannot be discounted.
– Tankard Dental 7 (Kate Carmichael, Rohan Reimers 2, Ed Hung 1) d Choices Flooring Mildura 4 (Wayne Carmichael 3, Liam Wood 1)
In the battle of fifth and sixth with their 7-4 win over Choices Flooring Mildura, Tankard Dental have moved off the bottom of the ladder and have given themselves a mathematical chance of grabbing fourth spot with four rounds to play.

In this round he needed to recover from a one game to two deficit against Kate Carmichael before winning 6-11 11-8 7-11 11-4 11-5, a strong finish.
For the victors Tankard Dental, this was a good win by taking both the doubles while Kate Carmichael and Rohan Reimers won two singles each and number three Ed Hung winning one.

Included in Reimers two singles wins was an excellent five set victory over Liam Wood, this match went on and on , Reimers winning the first two games before Wood settled to take the third and fourth which contained many long, impressive rallies. In the fifth Reimers was able to grab the initiative , just to go on and win 11-7 11-9 5-11 10-12 11-8.
Earlier Wood had to fight off a determined Ed Hung recovering from a 0-2 deficit to win 10-12 7-11 11-8 11-7 11-9 an impressive comeback and a thriller at the end.

Weightmans Packaging 6 John Fitzpatrick (2), Duy Truong (2), Therese Fitzpatrick (2) defeated Mallee Meats 5 Jason Gifkins (3), David Sergi (0), James Jarvis (0).
Ladder leaders Mallee Meats failed to defeat third-placed Weightmans Packaging in round 12, with the latter just getting by with the skin of their teeth. Once again finding no luck in winning either doubles matches, all three players got themselves two singles wins which was enough to get them over the line.
Weightmans took the first two rubbers of the night, with Therese Fitzpatrick taking down substitute David Sergi in three sets 11-4, 13-11,11-7 and brother John defeating Jarvis also in straight sets 11-5, 11-3, 11-1. Fill-in Duy Truong then went on to play Gifkins but couldn’t get it done, going down 7-11,11-13, 5-11. John Fitzpatrick and Truong then teamed up for the first doubles against Gifkins and Jarvis with the Weightmans pair floundering after four sets 11-5, 6-11, 8-11, 9-11.

Fitzpatrick then dispatched Sergi confidently 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 while Therese Fitzpatrick put on a great show against Gifkins. She opened strong, taking the first two sets 11-7, 11-9 but Gifkins seems to thrive under pressure, and thrive he did, fighting his way back and winning 11-6, 12-10, 11-4. Truong then defeated Jarvis in straight sets 11-4, 11-5, 11-8 while the Fitzpatrick duo fought hard to the end in the second doubles but came home empty handed 5-11, 11-8, 3-11, 11-6, 9-11.
With the score now sitting at 4-4, the captains faced off, with Gifkins easily taking the first set 11-2, but then Fitzpatrick found a weak spot and won the next two 11-5, 11-4. The two went head- to-head in the ensuing sets with Gifkins gaining the upper hand and winning 11-9, 11-8. The score now 5-4 in Meat’s favour, the pressure was now on Truong and Therese Fitzpatrick to win the last two rubbers. Truong soundly defeated Sergi 11-5, 11-8, 11-8 levelling the score 5-5. Therese then got herself into another tense five setter against Jarvis in the tie-breaker with Jarvis taking the opening set 12-10, Fitzpatrick the second 11-4, 11-8, Jarvis then made it 2 sets apiece in the fourth 11-6, but Fitzpatrick shut him down in the fifth, granting the win to her team 11-4.
Final score 6 rubbers to 5 and 25 games to 17.
Choices Flooring Mildura 6 Quentin Clark (2), Terry Martin (2), Andrew Jones (1) defeated Pinnacle Packers 5 Marcus Cimino (3), Peter Midgley (1), Peter Fitzpatrick (0).
Despite the absence of their No. 1 Ashley Morrison, Choices Flooring scored a narrow victory over fifth-placed Pinnacle Packers. Quentin Clark filled in for Morrison getting himself two singles wins and a doubles wins.
Martin scored the first win of the evening, besting Fitzpatrick in three sets 11-4, 11-7, 11-5 while Cimino fired back with a four-set win over Jones 8-11,11-7,11-8, 11-6. Clark then took his first win, defeating Midgley in straight sets 11-9, 11-6, 11-6. Choices Flooring continued to push forward in the first doubles, winning the game after dropping the second set 12-10, 11-13, 11-7, 11-6.
Choices Flooring were now halfway to victory with the score at 3-1 but Packers were not going to make it easy for them. Captain Cimino got into a long scrape with Martin, with the latter taking the first two sets 11-8, 11-8, but Cimino found his way back and took the next three sets 11-7, 11-4, 11-5. Clark then went up against Fitzpatrick, taking the win in four sets 11-5, 11-1,10-12, 11-8. Midgley then got his team’s third rubber with a win over Jones taking the game in straight sets 11-2, 11-8, 11-5. Packers then upped the ante in the second doubles after Choices Flooring took the first two sets 11-8, 11-9 they seemed to fall asleep at the wheel, giving Packers the opportunity they needed to come from behind and win 11-3, 11-3, 11-7.
Packers got themselves a game ahead at 5-4 with Cimino taking out Clark in straight sets 13-11, 11-7, 12-10. It was now or never for Choices Flooring and the next rubber proved the turning point for them with Martin taking on Midgley. Martin got off to a good start winning the first two sets 13-11,11-2, Midgley took the third and fourth 11-6, 11-5

but Martin ultimately took the win in the fifth 11-8, bringing the game score to 5-5. Jones and Fitzpatrick faced off in the tiebreaker with Jones taking the win in straight sets 11-5, 11-9, 11-7.
Final score 6 rubbers to 5 and 23 games to 19.

Singles aggregate leader Nhat Dat again won three singles as he did last round while teammate Steve Parker also won three singles for the fourth time this season and he is only one win behind second placed Deegan Kerslake.
– Weightmans Packaging 9 (Nhat Dat, Steve Parker 3, Leo Parker 1) d Regional Taxation Services 2 (Sabrina Fitzpatrick, Sam Campbell 1)
Top team Weightmans Packaging showed no mercy against third placed Regional Taxation Services scoring a comprehensive 9-2 victory. In the first game Regional Taxation Services number three Hayden Wilson started well against Steve Parker winning the first game before Steve steadied to win in four.
The second singles then featured RTS number one Sabrina Fitzpatrick up against number three Leo Parker and what a contest this was with many long rallies and cunning play from both. Leo grabbed the first narrowly before Sabrina fought back to win the next two games while Leo with some good serving controlled the fourth and suddenly, the match was all level at two games all. In the fifth Sabrina showed her experience going on to win 9-11 11-5 13-11 5-11 11-5, a match where both players played well.

A further five setter then took place with Sam Campbell taking a two-one lead over aggregate leader Weightman’s Nhat Dat in a top-class match, Dat showed why he is at the top of the singles stack by fighting back taking the fifth comfortably, the final scoreline 4-11 11-8 4-11 11-8 11-4. Sam had been brave in defeat.
Weightmans then stamped their authority in the race for the four points by winning the next three matches. These wins included a three set win by Dat and Steve in the first doubles over Sabrina and Sam, this was followed by a further five setter when “Consistent” Steve Parker recovered from a 1-2 game deficit against Sabrina to go on and win by the narrowest of margins in a marathon, the final scoreline in Steve’s favour 3-11 11-8 4-11 11-6 11-9 this only the second career win by Steve over Sabrina.
With the scoreline 5-1 in favour of Weightman’s, RTS number two Sam Campbell delayed the inevitable temporarily by downing Leo Parker in four close games.
To wrap up the four points Weightmans then finished strongly winning the second doubles and the final block of three singles to win 9-2 The final match of the night was a ripper when the two number threes fought out an excellent five set slog with Weightmans Packaging Leo Parker taking the points 11-8 9-11 11-8 7-11 11-8 against the hardworking Hayden Wilson.
This was a strong display by Weightmans Packaging against a good team who just had an off night. Losing three of the four five setters did not help the cause.
WINNER: Weightmans Packaging 9 d Regional Taxation Services 2
Games: 30 to 16
– Exposed Signage/Apparel 8 (Karly Leach 3, Deegan Kerslake, Dave Tanner 2) d Sammy’s Slammers 3 (Michael Tan 2)
The most in form team in this pennant Exposed Signage/Apparel proved too strong for Sammy’s Slammers this round winning 8-3. Slammers skipper Ryan Hensgen was a late withdrawal and was replaced by Michael Tan who is a new player to our association and has been playing in Pennant Two.
For Exposed Signage/Apparel Dave Tanner came in to replace the absent Brenden Johnson.
Second on the singles aggregate Deegan Kerslake lined up against Yen Hwak in the first game of the night and Deegan was able to control the match against the improving Yen winning 11-5 11-8 11-3. Deegan had his serve working well along with his top spinning forehand.
Making his debut in pennant three Michael Tan for the Slammers levelled the scores at one rubber all when he accounted for fill in Dave Tanner. Exposed skipper Karly Leach then took part in the next two matches resulting in victories for Exposed Signage/Apparel. The first was a steady win over Koby Grace who tried hard going down 4-11 6-11 10-12. Karly then teamed up with Deegan and this very consistent pair proved too strong for Michael and Koby in an entertaining battle 11-9 11-4 15-13 a couple of close games.
The second block of three singles started well for Sammy’s Slammers when their stand in skipper Michael Tan outpointed Deegan in three sets, a good win by Michael. Karly then had a battle on her hands just edging Yen out in each of the three games 11-8 11-8 13-11.

The next game featured Slammers number two Koby Grace up against Dave Tanner and it was Koby who grabbed the first narrowly 12-10, Dave fought back taking the next two games narrowly 11-9 in each. These two were evenly matched however an unfortunate accident took place in the fourth when Dave powered one of his strong forehands right into the left eye of Koby who was caught by surprise. A complete accident but Koby was unable to open his eye for some time and could not play on and unfortunately had to forfeit this game to Dave as well as his final singles.
A big thank you to those players who came to Koby’s aid, much appreciated.
A check with Koby’s mum the following day revealed that apart from his eye being red and sore Koby was doing fine.
With this forfeit Exposed Signage/Apparel had moved to a 5-2 lead with the second doubles to take place. Slammers pair Michael and Yen then teamed up well to defeat Karly and Dave in straight sets, the deficit now 3-5.
The final three singles all went the way of Exposed Signage/Apparel, firstly Karly and Michael fought out a lengthy three setter with the steady Karly recording an 11-7 11-9 11-9 victory. The second singles was a forfeit by Koby to Deegan while the third and final singles was the match of the night.
Yen versus David was an outstanding contest, Dave narrowly took the first and motored away to claim the second before Yen bounced back to narrowly take the third before grabbing the fourth more comfortably. The fifth was amazing going on and on with both players having a chance to claim victory and in the end, it was Dave who stole the match 13-11 11-3 9-11 6-11 17-15, what a marathon!
In the washup Exposed Signage/Apparel had scored an impressive 8-3 victory with Karly winning three singles while teammates Deegan and Dave won two each. This was the first time Karly had won three singles since round two and maybe she is peaking at the right time with finals only four rounds away.
For the Slammers Michael Tan did well winning two singles as well as the doubles when he teamed up with Yen.

– Weightmans Packaging 10 (Glenn Leeson, Tom Gilmour 3, Eddy Parker 2) d Mallee Meats 1 (Nathan Beard 1)
Mallee : Curtis Crabtree, Nathan Beard and Connor Burnett. Weightman’s : Glenn Leeson, Gary Leach (Fill In Tom Gilmore) and Eddy Parker.
The first three Rubbers were all captured by Weightman’s and all three setters. With Curtis and Tom to face up, you would have thought this was definitely going to wind up a five set match, but Tom seemed to have the advantage right from the start and picked up his first win (11/4,11/8,11/8). Eddy must have taken a leaf out of Tom’s book, putting his game against Connor to bed very quickly (11/7, 11/4, 11/7). Nathan is usually pretty tricky and he had Glenn thinking at times, but Weightman’s Captain pushed on and took the Rubber (11/8, 12/10, 11/6).
It was hard work for the Mallee crew, with the First Doubles also falling to Weightman’s, with Glenn and Tom, far too strong for Curtis and Nathan (11/6, 11/7, 11/4).

Connor and Tom had a rip roaring match, with more spin than a Washing machine. The first three sets were extremely close, but Tom produced some winning shots in the first and fourth, to walk away with another win (12/10, 13/11, 11/13, 11/6). Curtis made a good attempt stay on top of Glenn’s sneaky shots, but he didn’t have the same spark in his game as he usually does and Weightman’s marked up their 6th Rubber to be the over all winners of the night. Just when things had come to a close, Nathan got the better of Eddy and notched up the first Rubber for Mallee for the night (11/5, 13/11, 13/11).
With the Glenn and Eddy combination facing up the Curtis and Connor, it was going to take something very special from Mallee to snatch this one. Glenn’s team adding number 7 to their list (11/0, 11/3, 11/4).
Connor gave it his best shot against Glenn, but wasn’t able to add the Win for Mallee, giving Glenn his third singles win as well as the two Doubles (11/8, 13/15, 11/1, 11/5). Tom had a red hot night, pocketing 3 Singles Wins as well , after a four set match against Nathan, with both generating some amazing shots (9/11, 11/7, 11/9, 11/8). The only five set match for the night was between Curtis and Eddy, which in the hands of Curtis in the first two sets, but Eddy’s defensive game is not easy to break through and this is what rewarded him with the win (10/12, 9/11, 11/7, 11/9, 11/9).
WINNER : Weightman’s Packaging 10 to Mallee Meats 1.
GAMES : 30 to 9.
– Tankard Dental 6 (Leanne Wilson 3, Andrew Jeffries, Helen Wall 1) d Dunkley Scales 5 (Maria Starikov, Jenny Leach 2)
Dunkley : Maria Starikov, Jen Leach and Jake Hines. Tankard : Leanne Wilson, Ildi Healy (Fill in Helen Wall), Jakob Grzan (Fill in Andrew Jefferies).
Tankards fill in, Andrew, put together a solid match in the first up battle against Jake, which was a bit too much for the young gun (11/4, 7/11, 11/1, 11/6). Leanne’s skills are way above most of the Pennant four players, with lightening fast reflexes, which was not something Maria could cope with, allowing Tankard to take the second Rubber (11/4, 11/5, 11/9). Jen then faced Helen, Leanne’s Mum, who kindly gave her time to fill in. We now know where Leanne got her fast reflexes from, with Helen pulling out some doozies, but Jen snuck in enough of her own, to take the match (11/4, 11/7, 11/8).
Maria and Jen had a great match against Mother and Daughter, Leanne and Helen. The shot making by the reflex queens had Dunkley on the run, but with some focus and a bit of luck, Maria and Jen were able to mark up Rubber number two for Dunkley (11/4, 8/11, 11/9, 11/8).

A five set blockbuster saw Maria and Andrew fighting it out for the bragging rights. It was shot for shot for most of the match, with sets see sawing from one to the other. But it was Maria who stood tall in the end, making it three Rubbers in a row for Dunkley (11/6, 9/11, 11/2, 8/11, 11/9). Helen gave Tankard the Rubber they were needing, when she pencilled in her first win, playing against Jake. Well don’t Helen (11/6, 11/5, 9/11, 11/?). Leanne taught Jen a lesson, with a very smooth win in three sets (11/4, 11/3, 12/10).
The last Doubles saw Tankard’s Leanne and Andrew, making up ground in the skirmish against Maria and Jake, with a hard fought game landing Tankard their fifth Rubber (12/10, 11/5, 11/8).
Maria and Helen had a tight contest in their first set with a 13 / 11 going to Maria. But Helen couldn’t sustain the pressure of Maria’s game, with Dunkley holding on by the skin of their teeth (13/11, 11/5, 11/2). Jen then had to stand up to Andrew and he was in good form. Jen held her nerve and fought hard to keep her team in the game and the concentration was worth it, drawing the contest back to 5 Rubbers each ( 11/7, 11/8, 11/6). The deciding match was between Leanne and Jake, with Jake giving it all he had, but this was not going to be enough to get over the number one aggregate holder, with Tankard taking out the win on the night (11/5, 11/3, 11/3).
