– Weightmans Packaging 6 (Ryan Peterson 3, Karly Leach 1) d Sammy’s Slammers 5 (James Jarvis, Nhat Dat 2, Hayden Wilson 1)
Third placed Sammy’s Slammers proved a handful for the undefeated Weightmans Packaging right up to the end of the match and at one stage took a 4-3 lead and then 5-4 before the ladder leaders recovered to win a very tough contest 6-5.
The importance of the doubles again stood out here with Weightmans winning both, the second in particular was a match winner when Ryan Peterson and Karly Leach teamed up against Sammy’s Slammers pair James Jarvis and Nhat Dat, the Slammers took the first. This match went on and on with many fine rallies before the Weightmans pair won 13-15 11-5 11-7 11-13 11-5, the scores now four rubbers all.
Earlier James Jarvis lost only his second singles of the season going down to the talented Ryan Petersen for the second time, Ryan is only one win in arrears however missed a round recently and has the bye in round 11.
With Weightmans in arrears 4-5 Ryan had his hands full with Nhat Dat but was able to prevail in four sets. At five rubbers all Karly Leach then proved too steady for the hard-working Hayden Wilson winning 11-4 11-9 11-8 and banking the four points for Weightmans.
The Sammy’s Slammers team had given it their best shot with James Jarvis and Nhat Dat winning two singles each and Hayden Wilson one, on most nights this would have meant success however the doubles came back to bite them. Despite the loss they will be encouraged with this effort.
WINNERS: Weightmans Packaging 6 d Sammy’s Slammers 5. GAMES: 21 to 19.
– Mallee Meats 7 (Andrew Kremor 3, Hamish Smyth, Sam Campbell 1) d Exposed Signage/Apparel 4 (Sabrina Fitzpatrick Dave Tanner 2)
In an outstanding display bottom of the ladder Mallee Meats have broken through for their first win of the season defeating fourth placed Exposed Signage/Apparel 7-4. With this win they are now only one win behind Exposed and cannot be ruled out of the finals race with six rounds to play.
Andrew Kremor was the star of the show winning three singles and taking part in both doubles victories. His form in the last three rounds has been excellent only dropping one singles in his past nine matches.
In all there were three fill-ins in this match with Sabrina Fitzpatrick and Dave Tanner replacing Marita Grace and Nick Kiapekos respectively for Exposed while Sam Campbell replaced the injured Glenn Leeson in the Mallee Meats team.
The match of the night took place in the very first when Dave Tanner for Exposed defeated Sam Campbell in a marathon five setter 14-12 9-11 11-7 14-16 11-8 an eventful match.
Tanner and Sabrina Fitzpatrick tried hard for their adopted team winning two singles each however it was the form of Andrew Kremor and the lack of success in the doubles which proved too difficult a task for the Exposed team.
WINNERS: Mallee Meats 7 d Exposed Signage/Apparel 4. GAMES: 23 to 13.

The Team of Dunkley Scales has held their position at the top of the Ladder. After a lose last week, they have jumped back with a convincing win in Round 10. Weightman’s Packaging are hot on their heels, winning the past two rounds.

Now that the colder weather has hit, the number of fill-ins are on the rise, not just in Pennant 4, but through all Grades. With 11 replacements being sought, luckily our Pennant only needed one this week, with Derek Hung, filling for Gary Leach, in Weightman’s team.
– Weightmans Packaging 6 (Derek Hung, Raj Gujral, Curtis Crabtree 2) d Tankard Dental 5 (Nathan Beard 2, Ildi Healy 1)
Captain and number one player for Weightman’s, Cutis Crabtree was too challenging for Tankards number three, Connor Burnett, in the first singles (11/6, 11/4, 11/3). These two had a ripper match, with Derek snatching a grueling five setter, from Nathan Beard, to add another win for Weightman’s (11/6, 8/11, 12/10, 9/11, 11/6). The next match was a real upset, with newbie, Raj Gujral testing the skills of Tankard’s number one player Ildi Healy and pushing it to a four set win for a determined Raj (9/11, 11/7, 11/7, 11/7).
Weightmans Curtis and Derek paired up for the first Doubles and were forced to a five set match against Ildi and Connor, with Tankard notching up their first Rubber in an exciting watch (11/9, 8/11, 10/12, 11/8, 11/7).
Although Connor put up a good fight, Derek’s experience was a bit too much for him (11/6, 11/8, 11/7). Curtis and Ildi played out four sets, but Ildi didn’t have her normal calm game in place and Curtis took advantage of this, marking up the fifth Rubber for Weightman’s (11/9, 11/9, 6/11, 11/9), which looked like it was going to be a white wash, in Weightman’s favor.
Then, just at the right time, Nathan pulled out a winners against the ever improving Raj, who pressed him for five sets (16/14, 8/11, 11/5, 7/11, 11/6). This gave Tankard there second Rubber and their last chance to pull the night back into their court.
Ildi and Nathan, now with a plan in mind, used the Doubles against Curtis and Raj to sneak in another Rubber (11/9, 11/5, 11/8).
When Ildi focuses, there’s no stopping her and that’s exactly what she did when she came up against Derek, winning the four set match (11/9, 8/11, 11/5, 11/8). This put the match on a knifes edge, with Tankard needing to win the next match to stay in the game. Raj and Conner were to face up now and Connor gave it his very best, but Raj just has that little bit extra in his game at this stage, with a three set win giving Weightman’s the Rubber they needed to Win the night (11/7, 11/9, 15/13).The last match was between Curtis and Nathan and this was taken out by Nathan in four sets (11/5, 7/11, 12/10, 11/9).
WINNERS : Weightman’s Packaging 6 Tankard Dental 5. GAMES : 24 to 19.
– Dunkley Scales 8 (Tom Gilmour 3, Deegan Kerslake 2, Selma Mayne 1) d Mallee Meats 3 (Maria Starikov 2, Jenny Leach 1)
The first match saw Mallee’s Jen Leach up against Dunkley’s Deegan Kerslake and as much as she gave a good try, it was Deegan who ended it at three sets (13/11, 11/9, 11/7). Maria Starikov gave Mallee a Rubber, when she finished a three setter against Dunkley’s Selma Mayne (11/8, 11/5, 11/7). Jake Hines tried to out smart Tom Gilmore, but it was Dunkley who came out on top in three sets (11/2, 11/8, 11/3).
In the first Double set, Maria and Jen put up a very good fight, but couldn’t quite get over the line, against the strong combination of Tom and Deegan (11/9, 5/11, 11/9, 11/9).
It seemed like Maria had worked out Deegan’s game, as she made short work of him in a three setter, with the brick wall up barley passable in this match (11/7, 11/3, 11/5). The sets were very close, but Tom ended up with the victory over Jen, after she snuck one set from him (11/9, 12/10, 8/11, 12/10). Jake and Selma’s match was a thriller, going to five sets and filled with rallies (5/11, 11/7, 11/7, 9/11, 11/6). In the finish Selma increased Dunkley’s lead to 5 to 2, meaning Mallee would need to win all remaining matches.
Maria and Jake were in the next Doubles and up against Tom and Selma, which was a tough fight, which lead to five sets, with some long battles. The final score gave Dunkley the win to be the victors on the night (11/9, 15/17, 9/11, 12/10, 11/8).
Tom and Maria usually go to a five set marathon when they face up, but this time it was completed in three, with Tom grabbing this one (14/12, 11/8, 13/11). Deegan was up and running again in his match with Jake, winning in three sets (11/8, 11/9, 11/5). The final game was between Jen and Selma, with Sel pinching a set, in a good match which gave Mallee their third set (11/6, 7/11, 11/6, 11/7).
