Arhaung Lau continued his excellent form in singles winning three again as did the experienced Wayne Carmichael and they will meet in round five in what is expected to be a real highlight match. To date both players are undefeated.
– Mallee Bearings 7 (Arhuang Lau, Reece Kurrle 3) d Tankard Dental 4 (Kate Carmichael, Rohan Reimers, Ed Hung 1)
Up against second placed Tankard Dental, Lau led his team Mallee Bearings to a solid 7-4 victory, his three singles victories included a straight sets win over opposing number one Kate Carmichael who actually had taken a 10-6 lead only for Lau then to propel in to action taking he first 17-15 before winning the second and third 11-4 11-9.

A key factor in the top team retaining their undefeated record was the form of fillin Reece Kurrle who was subbing for Mark Dorman. Kurrle was on fire winning three singles in a busy night for him.
Leading in to this match both teams were undefeated in doubles matches, in the first doubles Carmichael and Rohan Reimers proved too steady for Lau and Kurrle winning in four sets, while later Lau and Tom Morrison hung on in a five set thriller to defeat Carmichael and Ed Hung 7-11 11-9 11-8 11-9 12-10.
-Regional Taxation Services 8 (Matt Ljubic 3, Jamie Kealley 2, Thanh Nguyen 1) d Cookes Pools & Spas 3 (Jackson Tung 2, Paul Kealley 1)
Regional Taxation Services are beginning to hit their straps and with their outstanding 8-3 victory over Cooke’s Pools & Spas they have moved from fourth to second on the ladder. Skipper Matt Ljubic after an extended break is now in top form winning three singles in each of the past two rounds. In this round Ljubic had to come back from a one game to two deficit against Jackson Tung to win 11-7 10-12 8-11 11-7 11-6.

Ljubic’s team mates are also playing their role with young gun Jamie Kealley now stringing together two singles wins each round over the past three rounds, an excellent effort for a number three. His match against father Paul was a close affair with Jamie taking the points 11-9 12-10 5-11 11-9, an interesting twist both players winning the same amount of points.
With both teams, Weightmans Packaging and Choices Flooring looking for their first win a topsy turvy match eventuated with each team grabbing the initiative at certain times.
– Weightmans Packaging 6 (Shannon Bowen, Reece Kurrle 2, Lee Leeson 1) d Choices Flooring Mildura 5 (Wayne Carmichael 3, Liam Wood 1)
With Choices leading 2-1 going in to the first doubles this match was huge, Weightmans pair Shannon Bowen and Reece Kurrle started amazingly conceding only one point in the first game before the Choices duo of Wayne Carmichael and Liam Wood bounced back to win the second. The next two games resulted in a win apiece by the narrowest of margins however in the fifth the Weightmans pair of Bowen and Kurrle raced away to win 11-1 12-14 14-12 9-11 11-3 an interesting scoreline.
The following singles matches went as expected and the second doubles again was crucial as the Choices pair of Wayne Carmichael and fill in Jason Gifkins knew a victory would again level the match. Opponents Bowen and Lee Lesson took the first game and in a tense struggle Carmichael and Gifkins won a thriller 9-11 11-7 14-12 14-12, the score now four rubbers all.
The two captains then met with Wayne Carmichael giving Choices a 5-4 lead with a solid straight sets victory over Shannon Bowen. With his team desperate for their first four points Weightmans Reece Kurrle then levelled the match winning his second singles over Liam Wood.

With the match at five rubbers all both Lee Leeson and Jason Gifkins gave their all each winning a game in the first two however it was the steadiness of Leeson who went on to win in four sets and give Weightmans their first victory 6-5 in what had been a close fought affair.

Mallee Meats 6 Jason Gifkins (1), Harry Gujral (2), James Jarvis (1) defeated Choices Flooring Mildura 5 Ashely Morrison (3), Terry Martin (2), Andrew Jones (0).
In round 4 of the winter comp, Ladders leaders Mallee Meats successfully thwarted an attempt by Choices Flooring to take the top spot from them, snatching a narrow 6-5 win. Skipper Gifkins was off his usual form however, only managing to pick up one singles win, leaving teammates Gujral and Jarvis to pick up the slack and get them over the line.
Veteran Martin was first up against Jarvis and the two had a good tussle; Martin taking the first set 11-6, Jarvis the second 11-6, but Martin holding firm in the third 11-4. Jarvis stood his ground in the fourth, taking it 11-9 but couldn’t quite topple Martin in the end, going down 11-13 in the fifth. Gifkins then dispatched Jones in straight sets 11-4, 11-6, 11-9 and in the next match, Morrison took Gujral down in three also, 11-7, 11-8, 11-5. Gifkins and Gujral proved a solid doubles pair when they defeated Choices Flooring again in straight sets 11-5, 11-6, 11-2 bringing the game score to 2-2.
In an unexpected turn of events for Mallee Meats Gifkins lost his match against Martin in four sets 9-11,11-5, 6-11, 5-11. Choices Flooring doubled down on this, with Morrison beating Jarvis in three 11-9, 11-6, 11-8. The score now 4-2, Meats started to turn the tables on Choices Flooring, with Gujral taking out Jones in four sets 11-9, 7-11, 11-1, 11-4 and Gifkins and Jarvis cleaning up in the second doubles match 17-15, 11-5, 11-8.
At 4 games apiece, it was anyone’s game. Choices Flooring struck a blow with Morrison besting Gifkins in four 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 11-7, but in the succeeding match,

Gujral wouldn’t have a bar of it, defeating Martin 11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6 levelling the score again at 5 games all. Both sides had their eyes on the prize, now down to Jarvis versus Jones. Jones drew first blood, taking the first set 11-9, then Jarvis fired up and won the next two 11-7, 11-6. Jones stalled him with win in the fourth 11-7, but Jarvis fought on and won in the fifth 11-9, retaining the No. 1 ladder position for his side.
Final score 6 rubbers to 5 and 22 games to 19.
Cookes Pools & Spas 8 Marcus Cimino (3), Duy Truong (3), Michael Hensgen (0) defeated Weightman’s Packaging 3 John Fitzpatrick (1), Sony Sefer (1), Therese Fitzpatrick (1).
Marcus Cimino, who subbed for Quentin Clark on Cookes’s side, led the team to a resounding victory over Weightmans who have yet to gain a win. John Fitzpatrick had a rough night, winning only one singles while opposing No. 2 Duy Truong earned his stripes by winning three.
Cimino and Therese Fitzpatrick started the night off with a ripper five-setter, with Cimino winning the first set 12-10 and Fitzpatrick taking the second and third 11-5, 11-9. Cimino hung in there and eventually downed Fitzpatrick in the next two 12-10, 13-11. Truong then showed his skills when he bested Fitzpatrick, taking the win in four 11-8, 13-15, 11-9, 14-12. Sefer then got his team’s first rubber on the board with a win over Hensgen 4-11, 11-6, 12-10, 11-8. Weightman’s fought hard in the night’s first doubles but couldn’t quite match the teamwork of Cimino and Truong losing in four 12-10, 10-12, 8-11, 7-11.
The two captains then went up against each other with Fitzpatrick getting off to a good start, winning the first two sets 11-7, 11-6. The next set was proper battle with Cimino just clenching the win at 13-11 and then taking the next two 11-7, 11-6. Strong form from Cimino to come back from two sets down and win. Therese Fitzpatrick got the second rubber on the board for Weightmans with a win over Hensgen 11-7, 11-7, 11-6.

Meanwhile, teammate Sefer gave it his all against Truong, coming close to getting his team their third rubber but going down in a tense five-set match, 12-10, 8-11, 8-11, 11-5, 5-11. Weightmans had no luck in the second doubles match either, putting up a good fight but losing 9-11, 9-11, 11-8, 7-11, granting Cookes the winning sixth rubber.
John Fitzpatrick finally got himself a win by defeating Hensgen in four 11-3, 11-6, 13-15, 11-4, but Cookes were not done yet. Cimino claimed his third singles win by taking down Sefer also in four 11-5, 11-4, 8-11, 11-5 and Truong also nabbed a third win, besting Therese Fitzpatrick again in four sets 8-11, 11-4, 11-3, 11-9.
Final score 8 rubbers to 3 and 26 games to 20.

In the clash of teams two and three on the ladder again an outstanding match with some odd results and a thriller decided in the last game of the night.
– Weightmans Packaging 6 (Nhat Dat, Leo Parker 2, Steve Parker 1) d Sammy’s Slammers 5 (Ryan Hensgen 3, Yen Hwak 1)
Going in to this match Weightmans were sitting on top of the ladder and had been winning comfortably while opponents Sammy’s Slammers have been seeking their first win. Early in the match Weightmans took a four – one lead and it looked like how far Weightmans however the Slammers then turned the match on it’s head by winning the next four games to go to a 5-4 lead with two matches to be played.
Ryan Hensgen won two of these matches accounting for Leo Parker after dropping the first game, later Ryan inflicted the first defeat on Weightmans skipper Nhat Dat again in four sets after losing the first game. In this run of four wins Slammers Yen Hwak met Steve Parker and they would play an amazing five set match with four of the games decided by the barest margin. The fifth game was amazing and it went on and on, in the end Yen was able to hang on in his best win to date, the final score line 11-9 7-11 11-9 9-11 and a memorable fifth 22-20.
In Sammy’s run of four wins in succession Ryan and Yen combined to win the second doubles defeating Nhat and Steve 11-8 11-7 16-14.
With his team 4-5 down Steve Parker took to the table against Koby Grace and it was Steve who levelled the match defeating Koby 11-8 11-6 11-6.
Both number three players then knew a victory would give their team the four points.

Sammy’s Yen grabbed the first game comfortably but it was Leo Parker who was able to remain steady in the second, he then showed great maturity to go on and grab the four points for his team, the final scoreline 3-11 11-9 11-5 11-8.
In a thriller Weightmans had maintained their undefeated run against a team that were oh so close to gaining their first win.

Games : 23 to 21
– Regional Taxation Services 6 (Sam Campbell 3, Hayden Wilson 2, Sabrina Fitzpatrick 1) d Exposed Signage/Apparel 5 (Karly Leach 2, Deegan Kerslake 1)
This was a match up of second, Exposed against third placed Regional Taxation Services. Exposed were a win clear of their opponents so RTS were keen to bridge the gap. RTS took the first match in a close three setter when Samantha Campbell was able to hang on 11-8 11-8 11-9 against the improving Brenden Johnson.
Brenden had a big day driving back from Melbourne just in time to line up for his team, great enthusiasm. His team mates then rattled off three wins in succession and RTS were under pressure early.
Firstly Karly Leach took five sets to shake off opposing number three Hayden Wilson who would go on to enjoy a successful night. As expected Karly took the first two games while Hayden showed great concentration to win the following two games. In the fifth Karly was able to wrest back the ascendancy going on to win 11-7 11-4 8-12 9-11 11-5. The very next match again was a lengthy five setter when Exposed number two Deegan Kerslake recovered from a 1-2 deficit against the experienced Sabrina Fitzpatrick to narrowly win 8-11 11-6 9-11 11-8 12-10 what a match, what a win.
Karly and young Deegan then combined defeating the tough combination of Sabrina and Sam in four sets in the first doubles which gave the Exposed team a handy 3-1 lead. The very next singles looked to be going the Exposed team’s way as well when Karly took a two games to love lead against Sam however in an excellent turnaround Sam fought back to win 7-11 2-11 11-5 11-7 11-7 a crucial victory for her team.
Skipper Sabrina then defeated Brenden in three sets to level the match, last time they met it was a long five setter. RTS number three Hayden Wilson then recorded one of his best wins when he and Deegan Kerslake fought out a top class five set tussle, Hayden winning 5-11 11-6 11-7 10-12 11-6, the score now 4-3 in favour of RTS.
The Exposed team settled when Karly and Brenden comined to win the second doubles in straight sets over Sam and Hayden. This was followed by the singles of Karly up against Sabrina and for the first time for some time this was not a five setter with Karly winning 11-4 11-6 6-11 11-5, Exposed back in front leading 5-4.

Sam then capped off a very successful night for her by winning her third singles of the night, her victim this time Deegan Kerslake 11-6 11-9 5-11 11-9, the scores now five rubbers all.
Exposed number three Brenden grabbed the first game against Hayden and the battle for the four points was on, Hayden lifted in the second and he also capped off a good night by winning his second singles 8-11 11-7 11-7 11-7. In a Topsy turvy match with several matches maybe not going the way as expected it was Regional Taxation Services who claimed the narrow win.
Despite the loss Exposed Apparel will hold on to second place on the ladder by percentage.

Two members of Mallee Meats team were away, with fill in’s called in to make up the difference, which meant it was going to be a battle for them to pull in enough Rubbers, coming up against Tankard Dental. Leanne and Ildi won all their singles matches and in addition to that a clean sweep in the Doubles, giving Tankard a very convincing Victory.
Dunkley Scales also required a fill in, to cover their number three player, which turned out to be a similar scenario, when they faced up to Weightman’s Packaging, who were sitting second on the ladder. Glenn Leeson was the star in the night in this encounter, walking away with all his singles wins and one Doubles, leaving Dunkley pondering.
– Tankard Dental 8 (Ildi Healy, Leanne Wilson 3) d Mallee Meats 3 (Tom Gilmour 2, Nikki Mayger, Conner Burnett 1)
TANKARD DENTAL : Leanne Wilson, Ildi Healy and Jakob Grzan. MALLEE MEATS : Curtis Crabtree (Fill in Tom Gilmour), Nathan Beard (Fill in Nikki Mayger) and Connor Burnett.
Jakob is showing some real determination in his game now and it won’t be long until he’s snagging a couple of matches each week. But this time, Nikki picked up an early Rubber for Mallee, after some terrific Rallies (11/5, 11/9, 11/9). Unfortunately that was pretty much halted when Ildi and Leanne came on the scene, winning each of their matches in four sets, with Connor producing some sensational shots, making each set very close (Ildi V Connor – 11/9, 10/12, 11/9, 11/9). Tom gave it his best shot against Leanne, but her skills were too much for him to handle ( Leanne’s win – 12/14, 11/7, 11/5, 11/7).
Pairing up to collect the first Doubles, besides a couple of hic up’s, Leanne and Ildi had a seamless win (11/1, 11/5, 11/3).

Ildi was running hot, in more ways than one, with the humid conditions making it a difficult night for many. After an exciting four setter, Nikki fell to Idli’s perseverance, which gave Tankard a 4 to 1 lead (11/7, 9/11, 11/4, 11/4). Tom found some of his winning shots, against Jakob, in the following match, pocketing Mallee’s second Rubber (11/4, 11/2, 13/11). Leanne pretty much put the pedal to the metal in her match with Conner, although there was a little fight back in the second set, with Connor pushing it out to 13 (11/3, 13/11, 11/0).
The second lot of Doubles went to four sets, but the pairing of Leanne and Jakob were too strong, when facing up to Tom and Connor, giving Tankard the overall win of the night (9/11, 11/5, 11/7, 13/11).
There were a couple of five setters in the last bracket of Singles, with some amazing sets playing out. Ildi wasn’t having any part of Tom’s spin and cut, showing a lot of grit to sneak in her third singles win (8/11, 11/9, 8/11, 11/8, 13/11). Once again Leanne’s endurance proved to be too much, with another win under here belt, after a three set victory over Nikki (11/2, 11/8, 11/3). Jakob and Connor smashed out another thriller, pushing one another all the way, with the final result falling to Mallee (11/9, 8/11, 11/7, 7/11, 11/9).
WINNER : Tankard Dental 8 to Mallee Meats 3.
GAMES : 26 to 15.
– Weightmans Packaging 7 (Glenn Leeson 3, Eddie Parker 2, Gary Leach 1) d Dunkley Scales 4 (Maria Starikov 2, Jenny Leach 1)
WEIGHTMAN’S : Glenn Leeson, Gary Leach and Eddie Parker. DUNKLEY : Maria Starikov, Jenny Leach and Jake Hines (Filling in Andrew Jeffries).
Eddie has come ahead in leaps and bounds in a very short period of time and although Jen may have had her mind on something else, he executed a fantastic defensive game to mark up the first Rubber for Weightman’s (11/7, 2/11, 11/8, 7/11, 11/6). Glenn’s ability to slice his way out of trouble, is a big advantage, of which Andrew couldn’t handle, making it a relatively trouble free win for Weightman’s (11/5, 11/3, 11/5). Maria made short work of Gary, but not with out some long rallies (11/2, 11/3, 11/7).
In the first Doubles, Maria and Jen shocked Glenn and Gary, ending the match in three sets, with a couple forced past the 11 (14/12, 11/6, 12/10).
Jen tried to redeem herself when she faced Glenn, with two never ending sets, but it was Glenn who topped up the fuel tank and finished the match in four (17/15, 11/6, 4/11, 15/13). Eddie and Maria play a similar game, putting up a defensive wall, which ended in Maria’s experience getting her the win (11/2, 11/5, 11/1). Gary flicked the switch in his singles against Andrew, taking the Rubber in three (11/7, 11/9, 11/9).
Dunkley weren’t so lucky in the second Doubles, with the combination of Glenn and Eddie over riding Maria and Andrew (11/4, 11/5, 12/10).

Glenn brought home the wining Rubber for Weightman’s, with a compelling win over Maria, after she gave it her all in the third set (11/6, 11/6, 13/11).
