The Rise of The Double Centurions! Version 2.0

With the Grading Committee working feverishly into the late hours of Friday night debating, deliberating and finally landing the teams for the Winter 2026 season, we take a closer look at each Pennant. Of note is the news of the super side of Weightmans Packaging which will feature good friends Wayne Carmichael, Mark Dorman and Eddy Hung.

Yes they go way back but what is of real intrigue are the rumors circulating that we may have a reincarnation of The Double Centurions. Originally the term was applied in 2012 to the Spanline team featuring Arthur Paar, Arnold Jago and Laurie Plummer which went on to win the P2 premiership. Whilst we suspect that the 2.0 version may not have quite reached the lofty heights of a collective 210 years, at some point (around rnd 5) we may have officially announced the heir incumbent. No pressure boys but nothing less than a premiership would feel like a moment missed.

Two first time number one players, Congratulations Therese Fitzpatrick and Michael Tan on your progression. Therese had some great wins in the Summer Pennant and recently attended a training camp at Coburg run by our most recent life member Bruce Carter where she showed great improvement.
As for Michael he has also shown tremendous improvement since joining the STTA and he should again perform well with the number one responsibility.
Both Quentin Clark and Duy Truong will again be looking for a big season to remind the grading committee they could be in the pennant one mix!
The consistent Rasin Bhuiyan rounds out the number one players and he has been a model of consistency over the past couple of seasons.
After having the summer pennant off the experienced pair of Peter Midgley and Andrew Jones rejoin this pennant as number two players and will offer consistency to their respective teams, both being past pennant one premiership players and both employing their own unique style.
Rounding off the number two players are the fast-improving James Jarvis, the talented Harry Gujral and the determined Josh Arnold, all these number two players will complement their number one team-mates very well.
The battle of the threes will be entertaining with the Hensgen brothers keen to take each other’s scalp while the steady Steve Parker will offer good support for Duy and Midge. The youngest member of the pennant Deegan Kerslake will again show improvement, and he will be keen to add to his recent summer pennant premiership.
Welcome to our new player Shiva Rottela in what will be his first STTA pennant and he has shown that he will improve quickly.
Who will be the premier in this pennant, toss a coin???
What else would you expect for pennant two!!

Like Pennant Two this is expected to be a strong, even pennant with a mix of experience, youth and a varying style of games. There are four teams with four strong number one players – Peter Fitzpatrick, Andrew Kremor, Karly Leach and Nat Dat. Peter is very experienced and will be tough to beat with his consistent style, Andrew returning after a break possesses an attacking style with a good mix of defence, while Karly and Dat have been very consistent at this level for quite some time.
The most improved player in pennant three in the Summer Pennant was Koby Grace and he again will improve while opposing number two players hard hitting Brenden Johnson, the experienced Steve Pongrac and new recruit Chris Cen will attempt to keep Koby honest!
Chris has shown good form and will improve quickly over the season, Welcome Chris!
As for the number three players Yen Hwak has been promoted from Pennant four after winning the singles aggregate. Curtis Crabtree and Hayden Wilson will continue to improve. Matt Sires has returned to Sunraysia and has rejoined our competition and has been showing good form. Welcome back Matt and good luck with the new bat.
Looking forward to this pennant and anyone’s guess as to who will be premier.
Good luck to all!!!
