– Mallee Meats 7  (Maria Starikov 3, Jenny Leach, Jake Hines 1) d Weightmans Packaging 4 (Gary Leach, Curtis Crabtree 2)

The first to face up for the night were Mallee’s Jen Leach and Weightman’s Gary Leach and it was the only five set match played all night in P4. Jen took the win in their last encounter, but Gary dug his heels in this time, taking the first two sets. Jen put up a gallant fight making the next two hers. But when Gary changed his game plan, he ran away with the last set (11/7, 15/13, 5/11,11/13, 11/1). Weightman’s were minus Raj Gujral, with Hamish Smyth filling in for him. Mallee’s Jake Hines had his first match against Hamish, who had to play left handed, which he found quite a challenge. Jake played well and completed the match in three (11/5, 11/5, 11/8). Curtis Crabtree couldn’t get his eye in and struggled to snatch a set from Mallee’s Maria Starikov (11/5, 11/2, 11/4).

In the first half of the season, Maria and Jen found the Double a hard slog, but lately something has clicked which has given them a slight edge. The first Doubles saw them up against Weightmans Curtis and Gary and although it didn’t come easy, Maria and Jen marked up a third Rubber for Mallee (12/10, 12/10, 11/4).

With Hamish’s left hand battle, Maria didn’t find it too hard to end it in another three sets (11/0, 11/5, 11/2). Gary and Jake had some great Rallies and the match was pushed to four sets, which fell in favor of Gary and Weightman’s (8/11, 11/7, 13/11, 11/3). Jen and Curtis usually have a good contest which on most occasions goes Curtis’s way and this was no different (11/6, 11/5, 7/11, 11/8).

Maria continued her success and this time she was joined by Jake in the Doubles. Curtis and Hamish gave it a real shot, but couldn’t crack it for a win (11/7, 11/6, 5/11, 11/5).

Maria notched up her third win for the night, when she played against Gary, leaving him a little disappointed as he was hoping for a three win night himself (11/4, 11/0, 11/3). This gave Mallee their sixth Rubber for the night. Jen and Hamish were next up and Hamish had started to get the hang of the Left handed bit. Jen snuck in a good win in the first set, but the following went to Hamish and he forced the next to (16/14), but Jen closed it out in four (11/2, 6/11, 16/14, 11/7). Curtis added a fourth Rubber for his team in the last match, when he faced Jake (11/7, 11/3, 11/5).

WINNER : Mallee Meats 7 to Weightmans Packaging 4. GAMES : 25 to 14.

– Dunkley Scales 8 (Tom Gilmour, Deegan Kerslake 3) d Tankard Dental 3 (Conner Burnett, Nathan Beard, Derek Hung 1)

Tankard’s Nathan Beard usually has the upper hand in his games, but Deegan Derslake put a holt to that, making it a three set match (11/4, 12/10, 11/7). Selma Mayne played a great game against Derek Hung, with the match going to Tankard (13/11, 11/8, 11/5). Although Tom Gilmore got the Chocolates for Dunkley, his match with

Connor Burnett was a close one and hats off to Connor for his impressive effort (11/9, 11/8, 12/10).

Tom and Deegan were up against Derek and Nathan in the first Doubles, with Dunkley’s T & D sneaking home with another comprehensive win (11/9, 11/7, 11/8).

Nathan put together a good game against Selma and added a Rubber for the Tankard team (11/5, 12/10, 11/5). Deegan didn’t give Connor any chances in their match, finishing things quickly to make it four Rubbers for Dunkley (11/4, 11/6, 11/9). Tom, determined to keep his team on top of the Ladder gathered another win, this time over Derek (11/6, 11/3, 11/2).

Tom and Selma whizzed through their Doubles against Derek and Connor and at the same time, gave themselves their sixth Rubber and the all over nights win (11/5, 11/6, 11/8).

With the last three games to play, Selma and Connor played a mighty game with Sel just falling short after four sets (7/11, 11/9, 11/5, 12/10). Tom put all his focus on a win in his last match, against Nathen, doing all he can to keep up with Maria on the Aggregate (11/7, 14/12, 11/7). Deegan and Derek took it to four sets, with the match tumbling Deegan way, a great tussle (11/5, 7/11, 11/4, 11/9).

WINNER : Dunkley Scales 8 to Tankard Dental 3.  GAMES : 25 to 10.
